Founded in São Paulo in 1968, A. L. Reichenbach is one of the oldest average agents in Brazil attending the foreign insurance market — independent, locally present, and built on the practice of marine survey and average adjustment.
A. L. Reichenbach was incorporated in São Paulo in 1968 by Mr. Albert Leberecht Reichenbach Jr., of German descent. From its inception the firm was the Brazilian representative of the German marine insurance associations — the Verein Hamburger Assecuradeure (VHA) of Hamburg and the Verein Bremer Seeversicherer e.V. (VBS) of Bremen — which later united to form the VHT, the Verein Hanseatischer Transportversicherer e.V., the Association of Hanseatic Marine Underwriters.
Mr. Reichenbach Jr. served as managing director, with his son, Albert Leberecht Reichenbach Neto, as his principal assistant. After the passing of both men, the company was guided from 1990 by Mrs. Renate Reichenbach and Mrs. Magrid H. Reichenbach. In 1991, the graduate engineers and well-known surveyors Mr. Salvador Picolo and Mr. Antonio Carlos Rodrigues joined the firm, carrying its tradition forward.
Today, A. L. Reichenbach Representações Ltda. accepts instructions for surveys of every kind — damage to cargo and property, nautical and warranty surveys, loss control, risk assessment, investigations, recoveries, salvage operations, wreck removals, and special engineering and transportation projects — covering all Brazilian ports and hinterland cities through strategically associated offices, ready to attend any casualty wherever it occurs.

Incorporated in São Paulo by A. L. Reichenbach Jr., appointed Brazilian representative of the VHA (Hamburg) and VBS (Bremen) marine markets.
Led by Mr. Reichenbach Jr. as managing director, with his son A. L. Reichenbach Neto as principal assistant.
Following the passing of both, the firm is stewarded by Mrs. Renate and Mrs. Magrid H. Reichenbach.
Engineers and senior surveyors Salvador Picolo and Antonio Carlos Rodrigues join the firm.
VHA and VBS united as the VHT; full coverage of every Brazilian port and hinterland city.
We report what we find. Our value to the market rests on impartial, conflict-free survey work that stands up to scrutiny.
Offices and representatives across the coast mean local knowledge of ports, terminals, customs and procedures — not a surveyor flown in cold.
Clear, documented, photograph-supported reporting that gives underwriters and brokers exactly what they need to settle.
Marine losses do not wait. We mobilise quickly and keep every interested party informed from first notice to final report.
Cargo, hull and machinery, casualty, draft, offshore and industrial risks — handled by one accountable agent.
We have long held the confidence of the international market and its P&I interests, and we guard it.

Underwriters, brokers, shipowners and cargo interests appoint us directly. Tell us what has happened and where, and we will take it from there.
